Public Relations Manager of KAI Divre I North Sumatra, M. As’ad Habibuddin, said that the increase in the number of passengers was inseparable from increasing travel frequency, optimizing seating capacity, as well as fare promotion programs that were regularly presented to the public.
“This growth shows that the level of public trust in train services continues to increase. Now people are increasingly aware that trains are an efficient, safe and environmentally friendly mode of public transportation,” said As’ad.
He also expressed his appreciation to all customers for their loyalty and trust. KAI, continued As’ad, will continue to be committed to providing excellent service, high safety and maximum travel comfort.
In terms of occupancy, the Putri Deli Train connecting Medan – Tanjung Balai PP is the service with the highest number of passengers, namely 1,172,638 people. Followed by the Sribilah Utama train with the Medan – Rantau Prapat PP connection with 679,172 passengers, the Siantar Express train with the Medan – Siantar PP connection with 450,869 passengers, and the Datuk Belambangan train with the Tebing Tinggi – Lalang PP connection with 80,951 passengers.
The five stations with the highest volume of passenger departures were recorded at:
1. Medan Station – 858,999 passengers
2. Kisaran Station – 265,953 passengers
3. Tanjung Balai Station – 226,721 passengers
4. Rantau Prapat Station – 207,805 passengers
5. Tebing Tinggi Station – 169,408 passengers
Meanwhile, the five stations with the most passenger arrivals are:
1. Medan Station – 884,760 passengers
2. Kisaran Station – 265,331 passengers
3. Tanjung Balai Station – 231,464 passengers
4. Rantau Prapat Station – 209,878 passengers
5. Tebing Tinggi Station – 171,840 passengers
In terms of punctuality, KAI Divre I North Sumatra recorded an encouraging performance. The accuracy rate for passenger train departures reaches 99.8 percent. The punctuality of arrival reached 99.4 percent.
According to As’ad, this achievement was the result of improving overall operational quality, including in the maintenance of facilities and infrastructure. He emphasized that punctuality is one of the main advantages of train transportation which is free from traffic jams.
KAI Divre I North Sumatra also appealed to the public to plan trips in advance by ordering tickets via the Access by KAI application, the kai.id website, or KAI’s official ticket sales partners.
Ticket reservations can be made H-7 departure for local trains and H-45 for long distance trains. Apart from that, KAI continues to open go-show counter services at stations which serve ticket purchases starting 3 hours before the scheduled departure.
“We are committed to continuing to improve services on all lines, both at stations and on trains. Safety, comfort and punctuality will always be our main priority in order to provide safe, comfortable and sustainable mass transportation,” concluded As’ad.
