BYD Reveals Giant Research Investment and Targets 150 Dealers in Indonesia by 2026

JAKARTA, POSKOTA.CO.ID – BYD has once again demonstrated its dominance as a global force in the electric vehicle industry by emphasizing that all of the company’s achievements over the last two decades have been based on aggressive research and development.

This great commitment to innovation is what makes BYD able to surpass many of the big automotive players in the world.

President Director of PT BYD Motor Indonesia, Eagle Zhao explained that BYD’s technological foundation is not just the result of acquisitions or collaborations, but the fruit of in-depth research and continuous investment.

According to him, BYD is the only electric vehicle manufacturer that has independently mastered core technology patents.

“BYD Group is the only vehicle manufacturer that has patents and leading technology for electric vehicles. Over the last 20 years, our research investment has been higher than the company’s profits. In the third quarter of 2023, our RnD investment will be more than USD 3.5 billion,” he said in Sentul, Thursday, November 11 2025.

One of BYD’s main pillars is an integrated development strategy, where almost all electric vehicle components are produced in-house. Starting from vehicle design, semiconductors, to the charging system or charger, everything is under the company’s full control.

This approach not only speeds up the innovation process, but also ensures production quality remains consistent across various lines.

“This is a kind of guarantee for what our NEV product development will be like in the future. Our strategy is to implement an integral strategy. Starting from vehicle design, semiconductors, to SPKL or chargers, we produce everything independently,” added Eagle.

The impact of this integration is clearly visible in BYD’s production capacity, which can reach tens of millions of electric vehicle units globally. The company called this achievement proof that the independent production model provides high efficiency as well as flexibility in introducing new technology.
