MediaBantenCyber.co.id (MBC), Jakarta – Philosopher and clergyman, Franz Magnis-Suseno, emphasized that cases of violence against activists and Indonesia’s attitude in global conflicts reflect the moral direction of the nation which is currently at stake.
This statement was conveyed in a podcast entitled “Acid Pouring: How Authoritarianism Smears the Face of Justice” which was held by the Marhaenisme27 Institute in Jakarta, Thursday (19/3/2026), with Emzi (journalist/activist) as host.
Father Magnis highlighted the acid attack on KontraS activist, Andrie Yunus, as a serious threat to democracy and human dignity. He considered that this incident was not just a criminal act, but a reflection of an ethical crisis in state life.
He emphasized that law enforcement will never be complete if the intellectual actors behind the attacks are not revealed. Failure to reveal the mastermind, according to him, will strengthen the practice of violence as a tool of silence and undermine public trust in the law.
In a global context, Father Magnis also touched on Indonesia’s involvement in the Board of Peace (BoP) initiative regarding the Gaza conflict. He reminded Indonesia to remain consistent in the principle of Free and Active Foreign Policy, namely not siding with the interests of certain countries, but remaining active in fighting for world peace.
He explained that the Palestinian conflict was now in the vortex of global interests. Since the 1967 Six Day War, this issue is no longer simply a humanitarian issue, but has also become part of international political and economic calculations.
Furthermore, he touched on the tendency of the unofficial coalition between the United States, Israel and Saudi Arabia to prioritize containing Iranian influence, so that the issue of Palestinian independence is often marginalized.
In this situation, Father Magnis emphasized the importance of the role of civil society as moral guardians of power. He said that Indonesia’s moral strength at the global level is largely determined by the country’s success in enforcing the law, protecting human rights, and ensuring a safe space for critical voices.
On the other hand, he also provided critical notes on the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program. He reminded that the program should not be used as a tool for political legitimacy, but should be managed transparently and oriented towards the real needs of the community.
He also highlighted the TNI’s involvement in the program as a potential deviation from military professionalism, which should remain focused on national defense functions.
Father Magnis emphasized that Indonesia’s moral strength in the international arena can only be realized if the government has the courage to uphold justice, maintain political independence, and ensure that all state institutions run according to democratic principles. (*)

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
